Iniciatives for the covid-19 pandemic and lock down.
March - June 2020

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, poor people in the world not only are facing serious health risks, but also very serious economic crisis.

Our community is suffering and the families of Danza Que Da Esperanza / Dance That Gives Hope are dealing with having no income, no food, no safe access to potable water and other basic necessities.

We have been helping specially those close to us; the children of Danza Que da Esperanza and their families. The following are some of our actions and contributions to our community...

Food packages

Every week, our staff and volunteers buy groceries, pack and distribute the packages to all the families of our foundation and some of the most needy families in the community.

We also distribute hot fresh meals, in this way we know that, at least, once a week the children are having hot nutritious food*

Temporary homes

From March to November 2020 we have also moved three of the children that normally live in terrible conditions to other lodgings temporarily. This helps the children and their families to be safe, but also makes sure that they have a computer and internet connection, so they may continue with the activities of the program.

Academic & emotional support

We were giving the scholars of DQDE academic and emotional support online by WhatsApp groups or by phone. Every day we ensure that the families are well and have food to eat. If a child does not attend a virtual class we immediately contact them to check why and see if there is something we can do to help.

Online activities

We moved our dance lessons to virtual classes daily. Three of ours students have additional personalized sessions and coaching with the teachers online and face-to-face time at our school once a week. Prior to the pandemic these students had received scholarships to attend courses in Washington, Florida, New York and Winnipeg, in Canada. This is the reason why they have an extra coaching time.
